how real men edit html

with 3 comments

Editing an html file with nano.
I spent about an hour tweaking the html syntax highlighting in my .nanorc to make this work nicely.

Isn’t it pretty?

  1. Love it, but then I'm also a fan of the command line. I actually prefer vim to nano…
I'm pretty sure though that this way of editing won't appeal to everyone 😉

  3. Okay, I am keeping a "personal log" (I just call it "my log") on the servers here at baldwinsoftware.com
I am using either nano/ftp or my little tcltext (which has built in ftp tools, http://baldwinsoftware.com/tcltext.html) to write and manage it, and It's all just basic html and css, without "real" blogging software (like worpress, livejournal, tumblr, etc., kind of software).
It's different from this blog, because, well, it's not really public. It has no commenting or other social features, no rss feed, no ads, nothing.
It's just a page for me to write stuff on, like a diary, except, well, it's online.
It is, in addition to an experiment in writing for myself, again, also an experiment in playing with some geeky tools and stuff.
See, this blog, here, is stuff I want to share with other people.
The personal log is just stuff I want to write about, but, don't think would be interesting to others, or appropriate for a public blog, or, whatever.
