Okay, so…
When I am in an ssh session, apps I open from the command line open from the other machine, but show on my desktop on the laptop, and have access to the hdd on the main box, but not on the laptop.
Apps I open from my fluxbox menu on the laptop, open on the laptop and have access only to files on the laptop.
I can, for instance, open tcltext both, from the command line with access to the main box, and on the laptop with access to the laptop, and copy/paste a file over (clipboard seems to cross the gap).

Here…have a look (notice, tcltext has a different theme on each machine):

2 tcltexts during ssh session
2 tcltexts during ssh session

The tcltext with the black text bg is on the main box.
The one with the blue bg is on the laptop.
I can copy/paste between them, but the laptop tcltext can’t open/save files on the main box, and the main box tcltext can’t open/save files on the laptop.
